The nearly 2 ha site is located in the Green Square Urban Renewal Area, only 4 km from Sydney’s CBD and 4 km from Sydney Airport. The site is positioned at the heart of one of Sydney’s most exciting new urban regeneration and development precincts, and exhibits large frontages to Bourke, McEvoy and Young Streets. The site was previously used as the Sydney Water Central Workshops. The main workshop buildings were demolished in 1995, and only the Pumping Station and Valve House remain. These buildings will provide wonderful opportunities for the adaptive reuse of these State Heritage listed buildings.
Dahua acquired the site on May 29 2015 with all internal financial resources. Our vision for the reactivation of this historic site is to incorporate new residential apartments, public open space, retail and commercial spaces and the existing heritage items to create a vibrant precinct for new residents, neighbours and the wider community to enjoy.
We look forward to working with the community and consulting with our neighbours and other stakeholders on this exciting project as planning progresses.
